A Posh Multi-national Job or Running Your Own Little Business.

I have come across the question recently which has made me wonder about the question why am i running a small tuition center instead of a fancy, up scale multinational company MNC job. I think i have the answer to that question.

For someone like me i personally do not have a preference for a job only for its superior status and a  few extra bucks if it involves me having to work with a group i do not feel connected to, a job that im not passionate about and under a corporate manager, a boss who is target oriented who comes in to job everyday to push the limits of the company and employees just to reach new heights of profits and revenues.

Not only that, think of the comparison between the two possibilities. In your business no matter how small you start there is always the possibility of growing into a big profitable business capable of hiring employees of your own, running the organisation in way you want and getting rid of all the disagreements you have of the customary methods of the way the corporate machine is running. On the other hand is the job which if you choose over your own business, yes you would have a more glamorous start. As soon as you start you have a big brand name associated with you. An additional title to boast on your resume and a good salary to start with but consider all the opportunity costs of taking up this choice. Taking up a job, that is if you get one to start with, would mean losing the time and opportunity of growing your own little business while you have the energy and conditions to work hard. It would also entail at least a good straight stretch of 5 to 7 years of hard work for a private sector company that would not compensate you in no other way than pay you for the days you end up going to office on the contract mentioned times. A third very valid reason would be limiting yourself to a steady yet very marginal level of increase in your earnings over the years whereas your business can help you grow with leaps and bounds after you have put in almost the same amount of effort but for yourself.

I guess the difference in the end comes down to choosing the right path and being daring enough to take the risk of putting in time and resources in establishing something instead of banking on a pre established brand.
